L is for Lights, Camera, Action

Lights, camera, Action Britain is back in the spotlight in 2026 with an all-star line-up of new openings and anniversaries, and you've got a front-row seat. Britain's scenery is stealing the scene (and hearts) in Wuthering Heights, The Immortal Man, Outlander and Bridgerton in 2026. There are some cinematic landmarks to celebrate too, from boy wizards to Scottish warriors.

It's been 25 years since Britain first cast its spell over audiences in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, some of which was filmed at Alnwick Castle pictured above and a mere 30 years since Braveheart put Scotland centre stage. Costume drama fans, you're in for a treat this year: look out for Scotland's swoon-worthy scenery in the final series of Outlander and see Regency England shine in Bridgerton series four. Explore the Yorkshire Dales by foot, bike or - more fittingly - horseback for a snapshot of Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights adaptation.

Or, make for trendy Digbeth for a peek into the Peaky Blinders universe ahead of The Immortal Man's release. Look out for Britain in Ted Lasso series four and Netflix's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew in 2026. With rolling hills, stately homes, and historic towns, the East Midlands boasts a melting pot of big-screen backdrops. This region has hosted some of the biggest names from the silver screen: Brad Pitt, for example, for his 2025 release, F1. Head to the Peak District and hike in the footsteps of fantasy classics, House of the Dragon (2022-) and The Princess Bride (1987). Live out your Regency fantasies and discover Bridgerton filming locations in Bath, London and beyond.

Three series of the bodice-ripping drama, plus Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, already have us hooked, and with series four now released, we're looking forward to having even more filming locations around Britain to explore. Why not step into the real home of James Herriot in Thirsk Yorkshire the multi award winning visitor attraction celebrates the life and work of Alf Wight, the real James Herriot. Set inside his original 1940s home and surgery, the museum brings his world vividly to life with faithfully restored rooms, hands on exhibits, and fascinating memorabilia from the books and TV series.

James Herriot - lived, worked, and wrote the stories that inspired All Creatures Great and Small. Visitors can explore beautifully preserved rooms, interactive galleries, and authentic memorabilia that bring Herriot's world to life.
